wimbledon 2015New Delhi, Thursday, July 9 – Roger Federer crushed Gilles Simon by 6 – 3, 7 – 5 and 6 – 2 in the quarterfinals held on Wednesday, July 8.

Viewers didn’t expect the contest is going to be so easy for Roger given the level of competition. 33-year-old Swiss professional tennis player Federer reached to this spot post thrashing D. Dzumhur, S. Querrey, S. Groth and R. Bautista Agut in round 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively. On the other hand, Gilles Simon was able to cruise through next rounds after sending home N. Almagro, B. Kavcic, G. Monfils and T. Berdych in that order.

The 30-year-old tennis player from France started well, giving Federer a hint that things are not going to be simple as he might have thought, but it was probably the last moment when he displayed the potential. Federer was in the game all the time.

In another match of Wimbledon Men’s Singles,  Novan Novak Djokovic defeated M. Cilic by 6 – 4, 6 – 4 and 6 – 4. Besides them, it was Richard Gasquet and Stan Wawrinka who caught the eyeballs. When the two contenders were at equal stage with victories in 2 sets each, they got loud cheer from the crowd. The fifth set stretched after the two players began to hit the ball hard, leaving no stone unturned to showcase their talent. The match swung sometimes in favor of the 30-year-old Wawrinka from Switzerland and every now and then Gasquet had a grip on it.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the two tried being a step ahead of each other but at the end it was 29-year-old Gasquet from France who won the five set drama by 6 – 4, 4-6, 3 – 6, 6 – 4, 11 – 9.
