Wimbledon 2015: Serena Williams Beats Victoria Azarenka to Progress in Semis

tennisNew Delhi, Wednesday, July 8 – Sports lovers are having a great time these days as they are able to see a variety of games. Wimbledon is on and tennis layers make sure to book a berth in the last blow. But this requires terrific show in different rounds and phases.

After defeating sister Venus Williams in Women’s Singles during 4th round by 6 – 4 and 6 – 3 a couple of days ago, confidence of Serena Williams was high. But she felt the pressure in the quarterfinals held a day ago when Victoria Azarenka, former world No. 1, won the first set by 6-3.

Losing the set at the hands of a young tennis star was something the 33-year-old Serena couldn’t digest and she bounced back instantly in the second set, winning it by 6 – 2. Both tennis players were outstanding in third round. At a certain point, Serena took the lead, while on some occasions, it was the 25-year-old Azarenka displayed who demonstrated her strong zones.

But at the end, her confidence lapsed and experience of Williams outshined Victoria’s efforts, which could have changed the game had some mistakes weren’t made. Serena won the last set by 6 – 3. She will now face Maria Sharapova in the semifinals slated to take place on Thursday, July 9. The contest is going to be a must watch.

Russian tennis player Sharapova defeated  I. Begu, Z. Diyas and C. Vandeweghe to reach at this stage in the ongoing tournament. Both ace stars of tennis eye win in this round given it will take them close to the dream of pocketing another title. In Men’s singles, Novak Djokovic beat Kevin Anderson in round four to fix a place in quarterfinals to face Marin Čilić, whose confidence is up post thrashing D. Kudla on Monday.
