The “2023 Fantastic China: Touch Nanjing” Was Successfully Held by CICC
Nanjing, China – On September 20th, the “2023 Fantastic China: Touch Nanjing”, hosted by the Center for International Cultural Communication of China International Communications Group (CICC), came to a successful conclusion. Media professionals, sinologists and artists from 11 countries, including the Netherlands, France and Italy, visited Nanjing to experience up close the rich historical culture, beautiful ecological environment and modern urban charm of the city.

The profound historical charm of Nanjing, an ancient capital, captivated the visiting guests. At the Confucius Temple and Qinhuai Scenic Area, the guests donned traditional Hanfu clothing as they strolled along the ancient streets of Qinhuai, sampled Nanjing’s specialty snacks, and visited the Imperial Examination Museum of China to learn about the culture of Qinhuai and the historical significance of Nanjing as the “hub of the world’s culture.” At the Nanjing City Wall Museum, the guests had a firsthand experience of the world’s largest ancient city wall, which holds cultural significance as a dividing line between war and peace.

The ecological harmony between Nanjing people and nature left a deep impression on the visiting guests. Upon reaching the Purple Mountain Observatory, they had a panoramic view of Nanjing, where the Yangtze River flows through the city, connecting rivers and lakes within the city, with green vegetation and urban architecture harmoniously intertwined.
During their visit to the Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo, the guests explored the Gondwana Zone, gaining an understanding of the core principles of respecting animals and preserving the natural environment. On the deck of the Yangtze Legend cruise ship, as they faced the mighty Yangtze River, guests from various countries shared stories of their own nation’s mother river.

Nanjing, known for its openness and inclusiveness, showcased its creative vitality as the innovation hub to guests from various countries. At the Nanjing Longtan Railway Co., Ltd. the guests visited the command center and interviewed frontline workers to understand the company’s role in ensuring the smooth operation of the China Railway Express and handling the reception and dispatch of cargo trains.
In the technology achievements exhibition hall of the Turing AI Institute of Nanjing, the synergy of AI with various sectors such as healthcare, finance and manufacturing created a palpable sense of the “future”, allowing the international guests to experience the “new dynamics” of innovation and development in Nanjing.

Members of the visiting delegation shared their views in the Nanjing Peace Forum. Zoon Ahmed Khan, CCG research fellow, was invited to speak at the opening ceremony of the Peace Forum. Elsbeth van Paridon, a foreign specialist at CICG Center for Americas and a young sinologist, delivered a speech at the main forum of the Nanjing Peace Forum.
